Royal Gardens Community Commission

Malcom Azania & Youth artists of Royal Gardens Community

Nuit Blanche Edmonton Society wanted to create commissions with local artists that would reach into communities and become embedded into a community to create permanent legacies that were created by communities and relevant to communities. Working with writer, activist, educator and artist Malcom Azania and over twenty youth and some mothers. The community youth who participated to create this project are new Canadians from predominantly Sudanese, South Sudanese, Kenyan and Somali ethnicities and Nuit Blanche is so very pleased to have Malcolm mentoring them in the arts from an afrocentric lens. We hope the empowerment and collaboration is truly the beginning of a legacy for Royal Gardens community.
